Fallen idols, icons and ideas.
While trying to navigate this world it’s obvious we all will witness an array of fallen idols, icons and ideas in a lifetime. Even if some of them are even our own falls. It’s hard to understand one’s personal ego at falling or failing as really it’s all the same. It’s a trip up of expectations we have projected either upon ourself or others. It is by far not the worst of our traits yet these expectations can be crushing and harmful. It is amazing how we as a society rather talk about one’s flaws than one’s achievements unless of course you are only speaking of your own. It’s these crushing blows of jealousy that really shows our true value. In all actuality we should be rooting for those who we identify with. Yet, in all shape of form life has always been this idea of competition even against the one person you should truly love that being yourself. I know I have had reflected upon all of these expectations this year of 2020 as it seemed to be a good time for thoughts and true self assessments. I am very fortunate to see that most of my falls were in all reality either failed ideas or just a fallen idol known only to me which is my ego. It is this fall that I find so important to me as instant knowledge. Not only have I weathered probably one of the worst falls of my life but it was during the worst fall of our country in decades. I really do not know where I will come out after this storm however I do know that I will be surviving even if it’s on a desolate desert island. I will survive. Regardless if my ego does or does not is really not my concern. Really the only main focus is to now complete the imaginary icons for my sanity. I guess that is why that fall may have knocked some sense into me. We will all fall. We all will feel the failures of life from time to time. It is the idea and the practice of realizing you will always be picking yourself up mentally and physically that makes us all the same fallen idol, icon and idea that I’d say makes us well “US”.
